Fishbrook- Alternative Country or Indie Folk?
The lowest common denominator the musicians can agree on is Neil Young. Otherwise, the influences are numerous and very different. Ludwig loves, for example the Sex Pistols and Nirvana, Micha likes H\u00fcsker D\u00fc, Hendrix or early Talking Heads. Sabine Pink Floyd, Sufjan Stevens and Sigur R\u00f3s.
The lyrics are about everyday things that have happened or might happen to anyone, and are about gamblers, dandies, pimps, or Simone, Gaby, Esther, and Tina. Musically, Ludwig’s music is never mainstream. Only listening helps, at least I can not describe it.<\/p>\n

The story of Fishbrook, however, began long before Fishbrook.<\/p>\n

So from the beginning.
Ludwig Thoma jun. comes from a family of musicians (?) and had to play as a child on the Hammond organ „Maria“. Before learning the zither, only a fever attack protected him. He did not get his fancy for music until he was 17 when he started to do minimal punk with „Nachgeburt“. In the meantime, he has been active or active in almost countless of his own projects – Elephant never sleeps, fix und fertig, House of Pancakes, Softtoysanimals, DHP, Ludwigthoma goes pop, ludwig thoma jun, Ludwig London, made music with Grupo sportivo and again and again with Anne Clark. And now Fishbrook. Stylistically never set, it drives him from minimal wave to metal and punk to alternative country. He handles almost every instrument from guitar and bass to keyboards and synthesizers, drums, trumpets and saxophones. And he sings. And how! And he writes all songs.<\/p>\n

Is there still room next to Ludwig?
Sabine Jacob alias Suzie que joined in April 2019. Growing up in the zone, she had to learn piano and violin. At 12, she fell in love with the flute, and because there were no flutes to buy in the East, she built one out of a sewage pipe. Later, she played in a wind orchestra to get on a government-licensed flute, learned guitar and bass alongside and began playing with 18 in cover band keyboards and singing, she was happy from 1985 -89 at the Neil Young cover band Montezuma , With the escape from the zone it was over from 1989 with Rock’n’Roll. Until she met Ludwig. Now she sings his songs, plays bass and sometimes flute.<\/p>\n

Something is missing?
Micha H makes the duo a band. He was kicked out of the school choir once. Since then he steadfastly refuses to go anywhere near a vocal micro. In the Enzo Mafia band he played the early 1980’s herb jazz rock, further stations were the Tom Hartmann band and Strahler 80. From 1985-88 he drummed at the Shiny Gnomes on the LP`s „Wild Spells“ and „Funny Nightmares „. After over a quarter of a century of musical abstinence, he is now back on the drums of the soul band „NoiseProjekt“. He can not leave it then. And by lucky coincidence (the accident makes the music) since August 2019 Percussion at Fishbrook.<\/p>\n\n\n

Fishbrook- Alternative Country oder Indie Folk?
Der kleinste gemeinsame Nenner, auf den sich die Musiker einigen k\u00f6nnen, ist Neil Young<\/a>. Ansonsten sind die Einfl\u00fcsse zahlreich und sehr unterschiedlich. Ludwig liebt z.B. die Sex Pistols und Nirvana, Micha mag H\u00fcsker D\u00fc, Hendrix oder fr\u00fche Talking Heads. Sabine Pink Floyd, Sufjan Stevens<\/a> und Sigur R\u00f3s<\/a>.
Die Texte handeln von allt\u00e4glichen Dingen, die so jedem passiert sind oder passieren k\u00f6nnten, und handeln von Zockern, Dandys, Zuh\u00e4ltern oder von Simone, Gaby, Esther und Tina. Musikalisch ist Ludwigs Musik nie Mainstream. Nur Anh\u00f6ren hilft, beschreiben kann zumindest ich das nicht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Geschichte von Fishbrook begann jedoch lange vor Fishbrook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also von Anfang an.

Lust auf Musik bekam er erst mit 17, als er mit \u201eNachgeburt\u201c begann, Minimalpunk zu machen. Inzwischen ist er in nahezu unz\u00e4hligen eigenen Projekten aktiv oder aktiv gewesen- Elephant never sleeps, Fix und fertig, House of Pancakes, Softtoysanimals, DHP, Ludwigthoma goes pop, Ludwig Thoma Jun, Ludwig London, machte mit Grupo sportivo Musik und immer wieder mit Anne Clark. Und jetzt Fishbrook. Stilistisch nie festgelegt treibt es ihn von Minimal Wave \u00fcber Metal und Punk bis zu Alternative Country. Er bedient nahezu jedes Instrument von Gitarre und Bass \u00fcber Keyboards und Synthesizer, Schlagzeug, Trompete und Saxophon. Und er singt. Und wie! Und er schreibt alle Songs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bleibt da noch Platz neben Ludwig?
Im April 2019 kam Sabine Jacob alias Suzie que dazu. In der Zone aufgewachsen, mu\u00dfte sie Klavier und Geige lernen. Mit 12 verliebte sie sich in die Querfl\u00f6te, und weil es im Osten keine Querfl\u00f6ten zu kaufen gab, baute sie sich eine aus einem Abwasserrohr. Sp\u00e4ter spielte sie in einem Blasorchester, um so an eine staatlich ausgeliehene Querfl\u00f6te zu kommen, lernte nebenher Gitarre und Bass und begann mit 18 in Coverbands Keyboards zu spielen und zu singen, gl\u00fccklich wurde sie von 1985 -89 bei der Neil-Young<\/a>-Coverband Montezuma. Mit der Flucht aus der Zone war es ab 1989 vorbei mit Rock\u2018n\u2018Roll. Bis sie Ludwig traf. Jetzt singt sie seine Songs, spielt Bass und manchmal Fl\u00f6te.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Da fehlt doch noch was?
Micha Hawranek macht das Duo zur Band. Man hat ihn mal aus dem Schulchor rausgeschmissen. Seither weigert er sich standhaft, auch nur in die N\u00e4he eines Gesangsmikros zu gehen. In der Enzo Mafia Band spielte er Anfang der 80er Kraut-Jazz-Rock, weitere Stationen waren die Tom Hartmann Band und Strahler 80. Von 1985- 88 trommelte er bei den Shiny Gnomes auf den LP`s „Wild Spells“ und „Funny Nightmares“. Nach \u00fcber einem viertel Jahrhundert musikalischer Abstinenz sitzt er jetzt wieder am Schlagzeug bei der Soulband „NoiseProjekt“. Er kanns dann doch nicht lassen. Und durch gl\u00fcckliche F\u00fcgung (der Zufall macht die Musik) seit August 2019 Percussion bei Fishbrook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
